Travis Johnson

Travis Johnson

It's been a hard week as we mourn the loss of our friend, our brother and our team mate. Travis Johnson, at age 32, passed away on this week.

He went up to Sacramento to spend some time with his family after a roller derby match in Lodi. Travis collapsed at his mom’s house. His brother Damian was there and able to rush him to the ER where they performed emergency brain surgery. Sadly, Travis did not wake up after the surgery. The majority of his family live up in the Sacramento area so he was able to be surrounded by family and friends as he passed.
Our sincere condolences go out to all of Travis’ friends and family.

I watched Travis grow over the last 5 years on and off the field. I've seen him play, coach, lead and mentor guys all around. Travis was always positive and cheerful and put others first. My heart is heavy as he leaves a huge gap in his family, my life and our rugby community.

A memorial service for Travis has been set up. The viewing will be held Monday August 31st from 3pm-6pm at Thompson Funeral Home (3601 5th Avenue Sacramento, CA 95817). The service will be held Tuesday September 1 at 11am at Mt.Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (3407 Altos Avenue Sacramento, CA 95838). The family is currently working on the details for the memorial in Bakersfield. I believe that it will be on Sunday September 6th.
